Course Profile

Erode College of Law offers B.A. LL.B. and LL.B. programmes. These programmes are designed to impart professional legal competence to students from diverse educational backgrounds. The objectives of the programmes are:

• To equip them with legal knowledge of various legal spheres and skills to perform various roles of a legal professional beyond the traditional role of a litigator for linking their domain knowledge to legal profession

• Give them an edge over their competitors to lead so that the opportunities to shape social, public and corporate enterprises such as the State, Community organizations and Social Enterprises, become justice sentinels and justice crusaders seek them out.

• Build competence to find, identify and interpret the law in a given situation.

• Enhance knowledge to enable them to resolve the legal problems with the correct application of law.

• Demonstrate cognitive skills, problem solving skills, analytical and independent critical thinking with enhanced research capabilities by using different pedagogical methods using collaborative online international learning.

• Help cultivate the ability to appreciate the role of lawyers in justice education in a globalizing world sensitive to the needs of sustainability, poverty and vulnerability.

• Acquaint them with the institutions of the legal systems encompassing national, regional, international and multiple aspects of dispute resolution, with intellectual integrity, critical thinking, and as practice-ready lawyers.

1. Respond to governance, administration and human behaviour keeping in mind cultural sensibilities, diversity, gender sensitivity, environmental sustainability, comparative, transnational and global competencies after studying law in the particular context of humanities and social sciences.

2. Acquire legal knowledge from various disciplines and professions to equip them to perform various roles of a professional lawyer beyond the traditional role of litigation linking their domain knowledge to legal profession.

Admission Progress

Overview

Students applying for admission to the B.A. LL.B. Degree Course will be placed according to the marks they gained in their qualifying examination, eliminating languages in Parts I and II, as well as on the basis of communal and special reservations as per Tamil Nadu's government guidelines.

The applications will be examined, and the University website will publish the Rank List (www.tndalu.ac.in). Dates for counselling will be posted on the university website, and candidates who have been chosen will get notice.

Requirements for assessing merit

The percentage of marks the applicants earned across all disciplines, excluding languages, in the Plus Two exams will be taken into consideration. The grades that students received on their first attempt alone in the Plus Two exam may be taken into consideration. The grades they received in the improvement exams will not be taken into consideration.

Requirements for assessing merit

The percent of marks the candidate received overall in the qualifying degree examination for all courses, except languages, may be taken into consideration. The proportion of marks the candidate received in the qualifying examination may be taken into consideration when the language alone is the subject.

All of the Main/Major and Allied/Ancillary topics of the qualifying degree, as well as the marks earned in those subjects used for class awarding purposes, are included in the phrase "All the subjects in the qualifying examinations."
